Mrs. Lore Heider Hisky's Obituary
Lore Heider Hisky, 81, passed away peacefully August 16, 2009.She was born January 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL, to William and Louise Heider. Mrs. Hisky was preceded in death by her parents. She grew up in Chicago until she met and married Rudolph (Bud) Hisky. They were married for 58 years. Mrs. Hisky graduated from Roosevelt University with a full scholarship. She continued her education at The University of Memphis by obtaining her Masters degree and her ED.S. Degree. She was a beloved teacher of over 3,000 students. She taught at Lausanne, Kingsbury, Hamilton and Central High Schools. Her former students would often tell her that she changed their lives and influenced them to further their careers. She was the “Outstanding History Teacher of the Year in Tennessee” in 1985. Mrs. Hisky enjoyed taking students to Washington, DC and Europe. She loved movies and was the program chairman for the Filmtrak series at the JCC. She received many fellowships awards to study history, humanities, education and film in the United States and Scotland. Mrs. Hisky was a lifelong learner and shared her passion for learning with all. She was always a lady and so elegant. She was a member of the Decorative Arts Trust at Brooks Art Gallery, the Memphis Scottish Society and the English Speaking Union.She is survived by her husband, Rudolph (Bud) Hisky, two children; Greg (Susan) Hisky and Lorelei (Ralph) Scatamacchia. She leaves 5 grandchildren; Joseph Hisky, Rosalyn Hisky, Hank Hisky, Vince Scatamacchia and Keith Scatanacchia, sisters Marlene Yonan and Barbara Haugen. The family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Memorial Park, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. Louis Catholic Church. The burial at Calvary will be private.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to The Decorative Arts Trust at the Memphis Brooks Museum or the charity of your choice.
