Lona Runyan's Obituary
Lona Collier Runyan, 98, passed away October 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank r. Runyan. Mrs. Runyan taught for many years at Vollentine and Snowden Schools. She leaves two daughters, Charlotte Van Baren and Betty Hewitt and Dr. Robert Hewitt, whom she always considered her son, “not-in-law.” Her grandchildren are Paige H. Marshall, Robert Hewitt, Jr. (Rachel), and Richard Van Baren, Jr. Her great-grandchildren are Will, Joshua, Jacob, and James Hewitt, and Rick and Kristina Van Baren. The family is most grateful for the loving care given to her by Charlotta Greig, Tina Byrd, Crossroads Hospice, and the staff of Kirby Pines. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119. “Honoring Lives Behind the Stone Wall.”
