Lola Alice Roberts' Obituary
Lola Alice Roberts, 84, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2024. The daughter of John and Helen Leavell, was raised in Memphis, TN. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Roberts, of Memphis, TN; and her sister, Lou (Billy) Talley of Olive Branch, MS.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Roberts Tennyson of Memphis; sister, Helen (John deceased) Wofford of Hernando, MS; Sarah Patterson of Memphis who was like a daughter and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Alice worked for the IRS for 26 years and was an Avon salesperson for 40 years. She was an active, lifetime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she participated in The Seekers Sunday School Class, food ministries, volunteer at the Hospitality Desk, Fun Bunch and the Craft Club. It was through these years of work and service that she made many wonderful friends.
She was an avid card player and never backed down from the potential to win. She was always grateful for the many people in her life-family, friends, neighbors, church community, and Wesley Meadows family. With her love and playful nature, she was able to turn friends into family wherever she went. She was blessed by you all and loved you dearly.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Memphis on Saturday, January 27 at 3:30 pm with visitation from 2:30 to 3:30.
In addition, a memorial service at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community will be at a future date.
