Lois Claire Ragsdale's Obituary
Lois Ragsdale died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 after a brief illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. James E Ragsdale, her parents, Haley and Mabel Thomas, sister, Jeanie Hayslip, brother, Jack Thomas and son, John Mark Ragsdale.
She was a graduate of Central High School in Memphis and attended Memphis State College. She was a member of Germantown Baptist Church. She was a docent for the Brooks Museum of Art and a member of the GM Truckers Bowling League, Cherry Estates Garden Club, Brooks League, Woman’s Exchange and a founding and sustaining member of Subsidium and Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was a very social lady and loved to ballroom dance with her husband. She was a very talented seamstress, smocker, embroider and heirloom lace sewer. She was a very compassionate and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. No child, grandchild and great grandchild was a favorite, they were all loved by her whole heartily.
She is survived by her sister, Sarah Shannon Rogers and her children, Jamie Luter (Rue), Dr. Thomas Ragsdale, David Ragsdale (Susan), Susie Gayden (Harry), her grandchildren, Amy Keith (Owen), Mandy Nelson (Dan), Anne Lacey Young (Derrick), Jim Ragsdale (Jillian), Michael Ragsdale (Mallory), Garrett Ragsdale, Harry Gayden IV “Chip” (Ashley), Betsy Gayden Haight (Drew), and her great grandchildren, William Keith, Nicholas Keith, Emily Keith, Pierce Young, James Ragsdale, Bodhi Ragsdale, Danny Ragsdale, Caroline Gayden, Emmaline Haight and Banks Haight.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 1:00 -2:00. All memorials should be sent to Germantown Baptist Church, Salvation Army or any charity of your choosing.
