Lindsey Jo Stewart's Obituary
Lindsey Jo (Allen) Stewart, age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2025, following a brief but courageous fight with cancer. She passed peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee, anchored in faith and trusting fully in the promise of God’s Word and her favorite verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… “plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Lindsey was born on August 9, 1954, in Columbia, Missouri, to Roy and Bonnie (Barnes) Allen. She was the apple of her parents’ eye—full of energy, strength, and boldness from an early age. Lindsey had a vibrant personality, spoke her mind honestly, and carried a childlike joy that drew people in. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel known, welcomed, and loved.
At the age of 11, Lindsey gave her life to Christ at a Christian summer camp, a moment that shaped the entire course of her life. Her faith was sincere, unwavering, and lived out daily. She was a devoted prayer warrior who loved Bible studies and being involved in women’s ministry. Lindsey lived with a deep fear of the Lord, a humble heart, and confident trust in God’s goodness. She pointed everyone she met to Christ—unafraid, full of faith, hope, and unwavering trust in Jesus.
A selfless servant by nature, Lindsey devoted nearly 30 years of her life as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She cared for the most fragile lives with exceptional skill, compassion, and fierce advocacy. Nursing was not just her profession—it was her calling. She had a special heart for the underdog and the most vulnerable, serving wholeheartedly and faithfully, never seeking recognition or praise. She would admit that she would have worked as a nurse without pay, she loved it that much.
Lindsey was known for her conversation, warmth, and lighthearted spirit. She called everyone “sweetie,” hugged freely, talked easily, and brought joy wherever she went. She was funny, silly, strong, bold, and whimsical. She loved to cook, decorate, travel, and create beautiful, welcoming spaces. To Lindsey, family was everything, and she lived that belief generously, sacrificially, and with great joy.
She was a faithful member of The Orchard Church in Collierville, Tennessee and deeply loved missions and outreach. Lindsey joyfully served with Street Reach Ministry in Memphis at Brinkley Heights Baptist Church, believing strongly in meeting people where they were and loving them without judgment. She often said, “If we are to change Memphis, we must reach the children first.” Her hands served, her prayers covered many, and her life reflected Christ in both quiet and powerful ways.
Lindsey made her home in Rossville, Tennessee. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, of 52 years; her children, Morgan and Tyler, her son-in-law, Jerry Harrington; and her treasured grandchildren, Parker, Davis, and Cole Harrington, who brought her immense joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her nephew, Brett (Kathi) Allen, and her nieces, Jill Allen and Jodi (Chris) Mendieta. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bonnie Allen, and her brother, Dave (Sherry) Allen.
Those who knew Lindsey knew a woman of faith, strength, laughter, and deep compassion. She lived boldly, loved deeply, prayed fervently, and trusted God completely. While her absence is deeply felt, her family and friends rejoice in knowing this is not goodbye, but until we meet again. Lindsey has finished her race and now rests in the perfect peace of her Savior.
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.”
Luke 1:45.
