Linda Meeks' Obituary
Linda Meeks, age 79, of Germantown, TN passed away on February 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on August 28, 1946, in Lambert, Mississippi, Linda was the daughter of O.E. and Barbara Cofer, with whom she lived in Marks, Mississippi. In her young adult years, she moved from Mississippi to Memphis, eventually taking a job as a secretary and later bookkeeper at Consultant Service Insurance Agency, where she met the love of her life, Bobby Meeks.
Bobby and Linda married on February 14, 1971, at the home of Bobby’s sister, surrounded by family, most importantly Bobby’s children, Steve and Lisa Meeks. Two years later, Bobby and Linda welcomed a daughter, Amy Meeks.
Throughout her life, Linda was known for her beautifully landscaped yards and for welcoming family and friends to her home for large celebrations, especially Christmas Eve and the Fourth of July. She loved her many dogs, and she was especially attached to her toy poodle, Poppy Jo, who provided her much comfort in her final days. She and Bobby were avid Memphis Tiger basketball fans, and over the past several years, Linda became a Grizzlies fan.
She loved her large extended family, but her favorite role was that of grandmother. She was blessed to become a grandmother at a young age and was insistent that she be known as Granny, which she relished being called by her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved their Granny and Papaw, and many weekends were spent with them in Bartlett and at Greers Ferry Lake and later with Granny in Germantown.
Linda is survived by her daughters Amy Meeks McCullough (Scott) and Lisa Meeks McLeod (Mark), daughter-in-law Lee Meeks, grandchildren Jake Meeks (Emily), John Meeks, Olivia McCullough and Jack McCullough, great-grandchildren Zoe Meeks and Max Meeks, niece Vickie Sales and nephew Steve Ballard. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Meeks, her son Steve Meeks, her great-grandson Justice Meeks and her parents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Memorial Park on Poplar, and a service will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Rotunda of Memorial Park Funeral Home Mausoleum. Linda will be laid to rest next to Bobby on what would have been their 55th wedding anniversary.
Linda’s memory will live on in the hearts of her daughters, her grandchildren and all who knew her. She has missed her Bobby Gene every day since he passed, so we take comfort in their joyous Heavenly reunion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude or the Alzheimer’s Association.
