Linda Jarrett's Obituary
Linda Diane Key Jarrett, 68, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 after several years battling cancer. She was born April 24, 1947 and raised in Memphis where she attended Sherwood and Messick schools. She participated as cheerleader, was voted on to several beauty courts, and to the Hall of Fame while holding several class offices. She attended Memphis State University and pursued a degree in Education while active as an officer of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity. In 1969 she graduated Summa Cum Laude and later returned to complete her Masters degree. Her career began with teaching English and Russian at White Station High School. She moved to Collierville in 1979 and became the first computer teacher at Houston High which led to the position which she retired as a Technology Specialist, serving numerous middle and high schools and making friends everywhere she went. A life of accomplishment only begins to describe Linda. Her success as an effective leader and likable teacher was complimented by the take charge, yet compassionate manner in which she taught her students, ranging from youth to adult. She was recognized by her radiant smile and beauty, known for her friendliness, and admired for attributes both personal and professional. Linda was loved and respected by family, friends, and educational community. She will be sorely missed. Mrs. Jarrett leaves her husband of 42 years, Bobby Jarrett and their daughter, Alexis (Mrs. Neil Sullivan) of Nashville. She is also survived by her mother, Norma Jean Key of Collierville, brother, Larry Key (Marsha) of Eads, TN and their children, Kip and Erin, uncle, J.L. Jackson (Willie), cousins, Sandra Jackson, Carol Stratton, Gary Key, Bobby Bailey, Lee Bailey, Cindy Bailey Lannom, Ed Jackson, Randy Jackson, Jim Key, Jeff Key, uncles, Howard Key (Gaynell), Jerry Key (Carol), aunts, Ruby Johnson (Delbert), Sue Maynard (Ernest), Barbara Bishop (Sam) and many beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Key. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9 at Memorial Park from 12:00-2:00PM with the service to follow immediately. All services will be held at Memorial Park.
