Linda Jackson's Obituary
Linda S. Jackson, age 70, a long-time resident of Memphis, died peacefully November 13, 2014 in Asheville NC. She was a retired professor music at Appalachian State University, an accomplished performer, loving mother, and faithful friend.Ms. Jackson moved to Memphis in 1963, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance. She developed the Suzuki Piano Pedagogy program at Memphis State University. In addition to teaching hundreds of young children, she was a long time vocal coach and accompanist for the Memphis Opera Workshop. She moved to North Carolina in 1989, she continued to teach and perform professionally.She was preceded by her parents and her son Robert. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until a memorial service to honor the life of Ms. Jackson begins at 2:30 pm, March 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Memphis. The service will be immediately followed by burial alongside her son, Robert. At other times, friends are welcome to call or send condolences to the family home at 466 Crowfields Dr., Asheville NC 28803.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 900 S. Broadway, Suite 200, Denver CO 80209 or a charity of the donor’s choice. Memorial service arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119,”Behind the Stone Wall.”
