Linda Harless' Obituary
Linda Yarbrough Harless passed away on March 23, 2009 at her home in Germantown, TN. Mrs. Harless was born to the late Hal W. Yarbrough and Dorothy Schreiber Yarbrough in Jackson, TN.She was a teacher in the Memphis City School System, Emmanuel United Methodist Kindergarten and St. George’s Independent Schools. She became the Early Childhood Director, Associate Head of Schools and was honored with the TAIS Hubert Smothers Award for outstanding teaching service all while at St. George’s. Linda Y. Harless was passionate about her ability to teach others that she received a Service over Self award and a playground named in her honor; Harless Harbor Playground. She was an active member in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, Pegasus, Suburban Garden Club and the U of M Alumni Association. She was a past chairwoman of the Germantown Education Commission and a member of Leadership Germantown. She was named a Germantown Hero.She leaves her husband of 41 years Michael Harless, sons David and Steven Harless, Both of Nashville, TN and God-daughter Anne Fleming Smith of Shanghai, China. She also leaves her brothers, Hal Herron Yarbrough of Mt. Juliet, TN and James Frederick Yarbrough and his wife Jan of Hermitage, TN, a sister, Marilyn Yarbrough Lewis and her husband Ron of Jackson, TN and nephews; James F. Yarbrough and Jeffery Herron Yarbrough.
