Linda S. Craig's Obituary
On Sunday, May 28, 2023, Linda Shell Craig, with her family by her side, went home to be with the Lord. Linda was born on August 1, 1947 in Greenville, Alabama, and was the daughter of Paul and Mary Jo Shell.
Linda spent her early years among a close and extended family of farmers, teachers, and ministers in the small town of Brushey Creek, Alabama. With Evangelist parents, Linda moved to 5 different cities, eventually settling in Memphis, Tennessee, but she always thought of Brushey Creek as home.
In 1981, Linda married Paul Gene Craig, Esq., and in December 1982, they welcomed their only child, Sarah Elizabeth, who was the center of their universe until the birth of their grandson, Paul, in 2016, and granddaughter, Elizabeth “Ellie”, in 2019.
Linda retired from the Shelby County Health Department after 25 years of service and then worked for Consolidated Systems Inc. (now New Millenium) for many years until 2020.
She was a thoughtful, kind, creative person, the family storyteller, a fun and devoted grandmother, and a truly beautiful soul, who was very loved by her family and many friends.
Linda is survived by her husband, Paul Gene Craig, daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Craig, grandson, Paul Edward Johnson, granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Johnson, and sisters, Mary Anna Marin, Susan Shell, and Leah McWain. She also leaves behind Charles Bradley Johnson, brother-in-law, Dennis Marin, nephews, Jeremy and Daxton Quinn, and nieces Ginger and Christie Tolley, Megan and Lauren McWain, Morgan Harper, Mia Quinn, and Ashley Quinn.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, June 5, 2023, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Her interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
