Linda Magee Black, only child of Mary Ellis (Robbs) and Mac Magee, was born August 31, 1939, in Pine Bluff, AR and died January 17, 2023, in Memphis, TN.
Linda was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas August 31, 1939. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Masters in Education at the University of Arkansas and taught in the Memphis City Schools and Memphis Catholic Schools. She was married to Pat Black for 56 years and leaves 3 children, Mary Catherine Burney (Brad) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Elise Hixon (Doug) of Montgomery, Alabama and Bryan Black of Memphis and 8 grandchildren, Erin, Blake and Wesley Burney, Joseph, Mark, Anna and Josh Hixon and Chandler Black. Linda was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church, Vice Principal at Holy Rosary School, president of the Holy Rosary Mother’s Club and Vice President of her college sorority Delta Delta Delta.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 20, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Park Avenue at 11:30.
The graveside service will take place on Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be sent to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Ave Maria Home.
