Lillian Ruth Gaylor's Obituary
Lillian Ruth James Gaylor, widow of William Arch Gaylor, went to be with her Lord on April 12, 2011. She was the youngest of 12 children born to Thomas and Susan James on October 2, 1917 in Humboldt, TN. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, George, Thomas, and Martin James and sisters, Flora Graves, Florence Hardie, Grace Hardage, Mattie Patterson, Irene Compton, and Edna Ryan. Mrs. Gaylor moved from Humboldt to Memphis when she was 18 years old, eventually going to work at the Memphis Area Transit Authority until she retired. She was a faithful member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a member of the JOY Sunday School class. She is survived by her sister Ellen J. Montgomery; nieces, Kaye Fields, Linda Kennedy, and Marilyn Rose of Memphis; nephews, Phillip Patterson of Tullahoma, TN, David Compton of Orlando, FL, and Harold Graves of Medina, TN; and many great nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mrs. Gaylor’s dedicated caregivers, Regina James and Trice Marshall, who cared for her for 4 1/2 and 1 1/2 years, respectively. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
