Lillian Montesi Cara's Obituary
Lillian Montesi Cara passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born January 4, 1924, in Memphis Tennessee. She was a gracious, kind, gentle and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend.Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband for over 45 loving years, Dr. Dominic Joseph Cara Jr, daughter Diane Teresa Cara, and son Dominic Joseph Cara, III. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Anita (Principi) Montesi and Joseph Montesi, her sisters Mary Helen Spinosa, Julia Wheeler, and brothers Nello Montesi, and Louis J. Montesi.She leaves her two daughters, Dolores Cara Dobbs and Denise Cara Reid(Tony), seven grandchildren; James Kirby Dobbs, IV (Holly), Joseph Collier Dobbs, Dominic Joseph Cara, IV(Ging Ging), Derrick Glenn Cara, Devin Broderick Cara(Kelly), Joseph Nolan Reid, Logan Parker Reid, and three great-grandchildren; Dominic Joseph Cara V, Nicholas Jennings Cara, and Cara Catherine Dobbs, and numerous nieces and nephews, all close to her heart.Lillian was a devout parishioner, of St. Louis Catholic Church, where she was an active and faithful founding member since its groundbreaking in 1957.She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. A past President of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and she served on the boards of Madonna Circle and Madonna Circle Arts and a member of the St Louis Women’s Guild and the Woman’s Exchange.She was a member of Colonial Country Club, where she shared a great love of golf. She was the Ladies Jake Fondren Champion in 1976. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She was an avid gardner and a gourmet cook. Her faith and love of family was her first priority. Lillian was always so giving of herself, a very charitable woman, generous with her time to all who knew her.There will be a private entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S. White Station Road, Memphis, TN. 38117 on Monday June 4 at 1:30pm. A reception will follow in the Clunan Center.The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Louis Catholic Church, Madonna Learning Center, Madonna Circle, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Monastery of St Clare.
