Leroy Malone's Obituary
Leroy Malone was the seventh of eight children born to James G. Malone and Charlie Mae Rivers Malone. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 20, 1942 and departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dorothy Malone, James E. Malone, Floyd Malone, and Robert Malone. Leroy grew up in the Binghampton community of Memphis and received his primary, intermediate and high school education in the Memphis City Schools System, at Lester Elementary and Lester High Schools. Leroy attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee and Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee before graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. Leroy was employed by Northrop Aerospace Systems; and during his career, worked at several aerospace companies including Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California and Hughes Aircraft Space and Communications Division in El Segundo, California. He enjoyed his work as a stress analyst whose primary responsibility was to determine the stress and strain in materials and structures when subjected to forces and heavy loads. Leroy’s hobbies were: golfing, tennis, music, and bike riding. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters and one brother, Mary Edna Scott, Frances Deloris Catron both of Memphis, Tennessee and Jerry Malone of Houston, Texas. He also leaves a host of other relatives to mourn his passing.
