Leonard William Gustafson's Obituary
Leonard W. Gustafson, 85, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Methodist Hospice Residence, in Memphis. Mr. Gustafson had lived in Mary Esther, FL for the past 4 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue DeFoe Gustafson, son, Christopher Gustafson, and sister, Peggy Horner. He is survived by his daughters Linda Bain (Ed), Pisgah, AL, Barbara G. May (William E.) Memphis, TN, Susan Robichaux (Peter) Mary Esther, FL, and a son Eric Gustafson (Lee Wynn), Coldwater, MS, a sister Sandra Stevens (Don) of Springville, TN, and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Gustafson was born in McKeesport, PA, and later his family moved to Dyersburg, TN. He graduated from Dyersburg High School and attended the University of Tennessee studying business management. He retired in 1993 from Commerce General Corp., a subsidiary of the former National Bank of Commerce where he held the position of Vice President for Systems & Programming Groups. Mr. Gustafson was a member of and served as an officer of the Data Processing Management Association and a member and Past President of the Society of Computer Programmers. Visitation will start at 10:30 am with service following at 11:30am in the Rotunda at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN on Monday, April 21, 2014. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to The Methodist Hospice Residence, 6416 Quince Road, Memphis, TN 38119.
