I just heard about Gale’s passing. We went to Southwestern together. A greater friend would be hard to find. (I mean, who else could you make seal sounds with and laugh so hard?) Gale Isom Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I went to school with Gale. He was one of the nicest, most humble, and funniest person to be around. Thought he was going to be a doctor for awhile along with classmate Richard Llewellyn, but I’m so glad he made a difference in a lot of kids lives. He will be missed, I really thought a lot of him. Such sad news to hear about Mr. Isoms passing. As a former Exchange student at WSHS I have some great memories of him. A humble man who made me feel very welcome coming from abroad. A man full of great and interesting stories, leaving the spur of the moment up to his students. I will never forget his explanation of E=MC2, his joy of transferring knowledge. I’m saddened to hear of Mr Isom’s passing. I was one of Mr Isom’s students at WSHS and I took every computer class he taught. It’s because of Mr Isom that I’ve had a lifelong passion for electronics and computers in particular. He graduated from high school with my mother, and he spoke of being friends. When she passed away while I was still in high school, he attended her funeral. He showed personal interest from then on. Her often spoke of his then young son, Matthew, showing pictures of him as a proud father would. I can’t overstate the impact he had on me back then. Debbie, I cannot express to you how sorry I am for your loss. You and Gale were the first to welcome me into Larry’s family and into your lives. I treasure the times we shared and our special birthday and New Year’s Eve celebrations. I loved Gale’s laugh and his infectious smile. Gale always had a kind word to say and a joke to make me laugh. I can still hear him calling Larry “brother” in the way only Gale could. I am blessed to know him and to call him my friend. I already miss him terribly and know he is with God.
