Lee West's Obituary
Lee West, passed away on August 24, 2024. Lee attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Catholic High in Memphis. After high school she attended Memphis State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Then, she also attended the Memphis College of Art where she developed her love for art.
Lee married Herb West in 1952 keeping him in Memphis and from going back to his beloved Massachusetts. He founded M & W Termite Control Co. Inc. and the business is still thriving today.
Lee became a renowned local artist also known in many other regions for her watercolors. She also worked with oil, mixed media and acrylics. She belonged to Tennessee Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Memphis Germantown Art League and Artist Link. She has won a multitude of prizes over the years and shown her work in many galleries and art exhibits.
A lot of her work was inspired by the oversea trips taken with her husband. They were very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and square dancing. Later in life she even found time to be on a bowling team.
Preceded in death by her husband Herbert E. West Jr., her parents, Joseph and Nora Werner, and one brother, Joe Werner Jr., She is survived by her two children, Sandy Hudson (Gary), Brad West (Dianne), four grandchildren, Johnathan Hudson (Mary), Justin West (Emily), Ashlee Talley (Clark), Andrea Kee (Jeremy), six great grandchildren, Cohen Talley, Brooks Talley, Piper Talley, Nora West, Ella West, and Grant West, one brother, Lou Werner (Judy), two sisters in law Amelia Werner and Josephine Duford.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
