Leah Baxter Durkee's Obituary
Leah Baxter Durkee, age 88, originally of Headland, Alabama, went to her heavenly home December 23, 2020. Leah was a proud homemaker, raising three children and also worked for the Internal Revenue Service for thirty years before retiring in 2004. She spent many of her happiest years raising a family with husband Earl as a member of Oakhaven Baptist Church and later served the Lord as an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Leah had a perpetually sunny disposition, was quick with a smile and always offered unwavering encouragement to anyone in need. She and Earl spent their retirement years involved with their church family, traveling around the world and celebrating family weddings and reunions. Leah is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leon Earl Durkee and leaves daughters, Lorraine Dickerson (Robert), Lois Roehrs (David); son, Brian Durkee (Doris); seven grand-children and seven great-grandchildren. Services are necessarily private at graveside due to present circumstances.
