Lea Seibel Weiner's Obituary
Mrs. Lea Seibel Weiner passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born in Galveston, Texas on January 6, 1921 to Ralph and Sadie Seibel, graduated from Ball High School, and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Lea had a long and productive career. She worked for 19 years as co-owner of Mallin’s Pawn Shop in Baytown, Texas. For several years, she served as executive secretary for Getty Oil and later for The San Antonio News. But the apogee of Lea’s career was as a successful private investor. She was a passionate follower of the stock market. Lea Weiner was an active member of the American Association of University Women, the Jewish Federation, and Brandeis University National Women’s Committee. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Land of Burnet, TX, her son, Marc Friedman and his wife Patricia Friedman of Memphis, TN, her granddaughter Robyn Rubenstein and her husband, Kelly Roman, her grandsons Adam and Zachary Friedman, and her great-granddaughter, Bija Roman. Rabbi Todd Doctor of Congregation Beth Jacob will preside at graveside services, which will be held at Beth Jacob Cemetery in Galveston on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 2:00 P.M.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall”
