LE Richmond Kearney's Obituary
LE Richmond Kearney, was born on July 10, 1925 to Johnnie and Nettie Richmond in Lucy, TN. She was the older sibling to Johnnie Richmond Sr. LE went to school in White Station and was raised at Memorial Park Cemetery where her father Johnnie Richmond Sr. and brother Johnnie Richmond Jr. worked. She was a domestic helper and child caregiver to many children through the city of Memphis, Bartlett, and Cordova, along with her eight children. She provided loving care to all races and all social mixes families was her calling of expertise. Along with her mother, father, and younger brother, she lived in a split-log cabin on the grounds. In her younger years, LE helped her father with his work as the Memphis Memorial Park Groundskeeper.At the early age of 12-years-old, LE accepted Christ as her Savior. LE and her cousins, Ossie and Mattie Lee, made a commitment to one another to go to the Morning Bench together the next Sunday. However, LE changed her mind and decided to go play instead. She recounted the story to her children, “I was playing on a tree. Then, I noticed my left eye went weak. I knew that was the Lord. I made a promise to Him and I knew I had to keep my promise to the Lord. I had to get clean”. LE accepted Christ at New Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. She later fellowshipped and worshipped at Robinhood Lane Baptist Church where she served on the Motherboard until she became a caregiver for her husband in 2003.Later in her life, LE worked as a caretaker for several children across West Tennessee. She also worked as a skilled domestic helper. Most of all, she was a loving, clever, and devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.Married in their early 20’s, LE and Frank J. Kearney Sr. had eight loving and appreciative children. Out of their union was born: Frank James Kearney Jr., Sylvester Kearney, Robert Lee Kearney, Shirley Rose Kearney Denson, Katherine Kearney, James Louis Kearney, Stanley Kearney, and Beverley Kearney Hewlett.LE leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving and devoted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and adoring friends.Mrs. Kearney’s family will receive guest from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 16, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
