Lawrence William Rathheim Jr.'s Obituary
Lawrence William Rathheim, 51, of Memphis, TN passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 26, 2023.
He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who were always entertained by his love of life and hilarious sense of humor. He truly brought the life to the party.
Lawrence was born on April 28, 1972 to Larry and Sandra Rathheim (Bullard) in Memphis, TN. All who knew him understood his obsession with all things Star Wars, Star Trek and anything sci-fi. He had a deep knowledge of so many things including the bizarre. You could take your pick of any topic and he would discuss and debate it with you for hours or days. He was ready for adventure at the drop of a hat. He would plan all year for Memphis in May Barbecue Fest. He loved the food, but he loved being with his friends day and night for an entire weekend even more. There is so much to say about this bigger than life teddy bear but one of his best and oldest friends said it perfectly, “ I had surgery and was recovering at home. He came to see me every day and brought me books to read and we would talk for hours. He was one of the kindest and most caring people I ever met. Would give you the shirt off his back.” This was Lawrence all day everyday. He was an eternal optimist who would swim across oceans for his friends and family.
He was beloved by everyone who ever met him; A fantastic son, a loving and over protective brother and a best friend to all walks of life. No matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Lawrence did while you were with him.
Lawrence is survived by his sister, Lisa, his niece Austin Zurbruegg of whom he loved both deeply. He is also survived by extended family and too many close friends to count.
Lawrence is now at peace, joining his parents - That is one fun party re-united!
"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force." - Yoda, 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith'.
