Lawrence "Larry" Hudson's Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Hudson, 72, of Collierville, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019. He was born on November 3, 1946 and graduated from Johnstown Senior High School in 1964. Immediately following school he went to work as a Copy Boy for the Johnstown Tribune – Democrat newspaper. He worked through 32 years in various positions working up to Sports Editor and then, finally to Managing Editor. He won several literary awards for newspaper articles specifically during the 1977 Johnstown Flood.He moved to Memphis in 1998 and started work at The Commercial Appeal as a Sports Copy Editor in 2000. Shortly then moved to the Editor of The Desoto County Tribune in Olive Branch MS. He officially retired in 2011 and spent his new free time gardening and taking care of his loving wife Miss Jean.Larry was an avid reader of history books as well as a hunter and fisherman. He and Jean loved to travel to New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, Western Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia. He loved to fish the The Red River in Arkansas and enjoyed wood working and photography.Besides spending precious time with Miss Jean, he also loved to hear from his children and grandchildren.There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Piperton United Methodist Church, 785 TN 57, Piperton, TN. 38017.
