Around the first of July 1957 Larry, Drew DeBerry, and I boarded a Southern Airlines DC-3 (WWII ventage aircraft) bound for Denver, Colorado, where we started a life long adventure at the USAF Academy. We were three of the three hundred selected for the third class from the over five thousand applicants. The flight had six or seven stops on the way, and was my first airplane ride (and probably Larry's also). He was a fine young man, and was molded into an outstanding officer and gentleman. Larry made the world a better place.

Larry was my classmate at the AF Academy. A good man and good pilot. He served us well. Doug Cairns
