LaVerne Beagle's Obituary
LaVerne was born June 30, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended New Point High School and graduated as valedictorian. She was preceded in death by her life-long love, Lt. Colonel Francis G. Beagle, USAF Retired whom she married on May 26, 1956. After retiring from the USAF, they settled in Germantown, Tennessee.Frank and LaVerne opened Germantown Flowers which Laverne operated for more than 30 years.LaVerne was a 45-year parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis, TN. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and watched Jeopardy every day. She watched both college and professional sports following basketball, football, golf, tennis, and any Olympic event.She was the foundation and strength of a large loving family for whom she hosted Sunday night dinners for years on end, happily cooking for 20 and taking special orders if it was someone’s birthday celebration. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at “Maw’s” house were legendary with people eating in 3 different rooms. She did in this world exactly what a wife, mother, and grandma should do… love her husband, love her kids and spoil her grand babies… she spent her whole life preparing to do just that, and then doing it. Her Love under all circumstances was unconditional and sacrificial.She is survived by her six children; Mark, Angela, Lisa and her husband David, Christopher and his wife Gina, Timothy, and Cynthia and her husband Rich, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and two siblings, Melvin Thurston and Karen Dial.She is reunited with her mate for eternity and now our family has a saint watching over us all.The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 5 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 South White Station Road in Memphis. The committal service will immediately follow via an escorted cortege at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. There will be a reception at the church following the committal service.
