LaVelle Powell's Obituary
LaVelle Sykes Powell, 96, died at Quince Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Memphis, TN on Monday, September 15, 2014. She was born in Southampton County, VA. LaVelle was self-employed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Moseley Powell. Survivors include her daughter, Bettie Dodd, of Memphis, TN; grandson Mel Gray, of Winter Park, FL; granddaughter, Kim Gaddy, of Fairhope, AL; and great-granddaughter, Gracen Gaddy, of Fairhope, AL. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by services at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Memphis, TN, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
