Laurie Shappley's Obituary
AILSA LAURIE DUNN SHAPPLEY passed away on January 12, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Ben R. Shappley of Germantown, TN; daughter, Jaime Elizabeth Dunn of Memphis, TN; niece, Elisabeth Rohm and her 4 year old daughter, Easton of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves her dear Aunt Evy of Tampa, FL; mother-in-law, Neva Shappley of Ripley, MS; sister- in-law, Deborah (Dr. Sandy) Feldman of Madison, MS; niece, Rachel (JT) Newman and their two year old son, Max of Jackson, MS; and countless beloved friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Jay Loverde and her sister, Lisa Ames Loverde-Meyer. Born in Memphis, her parents were Charles J “Chuck” and Carlina “Carlye” Loverde. Laurie attended White Station High School and college at The University of Tennessee and Ole Miss. Laurie was known for the light that lit up the room when she entered and for her infectious laugh. She was extremely gifted at interior design. She decorated many of the finer homes in Memphis and Germantown. She had a keen interest in gardening; but her greatest passion was giving. Through the years, she was involved with many charitable organizations, such as the Exchange Club, where she chaired one of their most successful galas and the Duration Club, where she worked in support of special needs children. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN.
