Laura Jean Lee's Obituary
Laura Jean Lee, born on January 4, 1922, age 94, passed away on November 14, 2016. She was the second eldest child of a son and five daughters born in Sarnia, Canada to Thomas Sing, Sr. and Lau See of Guangdong Province, China. She immigrated to America and moved to Memphis following her marriage to Paul Lee, Sr. in 1947. She with her husband was a grocery store owner, insurance agent, and a central figure of the Mid-South Chinese-American community. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and beloved matriarch to many for nearly seventy years. She attended the First Chinese Baptist Church and Hope Presbyterian Church throughout her lifetime. She is preceded by her son Daniel and her husband, Paul Lee, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Dr. William Lee and Dr. Paul Lee, Jr.; her grandchildren, Daniel, Jennifer, John, and Kristen; and her great-grandson, Everett. Services will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church, 8500 Walnut Grove Rd., on Saturday, November 19. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Hope Presbyterian Church and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.
