Laura Alice Beaty Bislick's Obituary
Laura Alice Beaty Bislick, 93, was born on August 11, 1924 in Jamestown, TN to Charles Preston Beaty and Martha Esther Owens Beaty. She passed away peacefully on August 7, 2018 at Ashland Health and Rehab in Ashland, Ms.Laura grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee. Her father was a logger and her mother was a homemaker. She was educated, along with her many siblings, in a school built by her father, which also served as their church. She married Bernard John Bislick of Elyria, Ohio in Lexington, KY on February 16, 1944. Together, they raised 2 daughters, Rose “Sharon” and Florence Ann “Annie”. They lived in Elyria, Ohio, Collierville, TN and Tupelo, Ms. She became a widow on January 9, 1977 and never remarried. She was employed at several manufacturing companies over the years. She enjoyed her family, friends, dancing, laughing, crocheting, traveling, baking and volunteering with the Veterans of Foreign War. She was preceded in death by her Father, Charles Preston Beaty; Mother, Martha Esther Owens Beaty; Husband, Bernard John Bislick; 2 daughters, Sharon Gatlin and Annie Warren; son-in-laws, Alfred Ray Hailey and John Gatlin; 4 brothers, Agbert, Elbert, Virgil and Charlie; and 9 sisters, Ellie, Allie, Maggie, Mandy, Hazel, Vera, Marie, Martha and Rosaline.She leaves her son-in-law, Alton Warren Sr; 4 grandchildren, Alton Warren Jr. (Jennifer), Don Warren (Alanna), Laura Reed (Jason) and Alaina Harwood (Steve); 5 great-grandchildren, Madison Warren-Dignowity (Max), Hallee Warren, Josee Harwood, Susanna Warren and Jake Reed; and 4 sisters, Ruby, Julie, Lorene and Sarah.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
