Larry Eugene Wilson's Obituary
Larry Eugene Wilson, age 88, of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away on January 13, 2021. Larry was born on January 20, 1932, to Mr. Harry and Mrs. Clara Wilson of Humboldt, Tennessee. He graduated from Humboldt High School and during his time there became an avid tennis player. After graduating high school, Larry went on to play tennis at the collegiate level while pursuing a pharmaceutical science degree - attending Union University, University of Tennessee at Martin, Auburn University and University of Memphis. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army and shortly thereafter met his wife-to-be, Theresa Owens of Paris, Tennessee.
After serving in the US Army, Larry worked for E.I. DuPont Company in Memphis, Tennessee, for over 20 years. After retiring from E.I. DuPont Company, Larry founded his own business providing home fireplace and glass installation and repair services across the greater Memphis area. Larry had a lifelong love for dogs, and spent his later years rescuing and loving dogs in need. He very much enjoyed his daily trips to Shelby Farms Dog Park with his dogs, Cooper and Heinz, and even moreso enjoyed catching up with all of his friends while there.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, his sister Jean Criss, and his devoted wife of 58 years, Theresa Owens Wilson. He is survived by his two sons, Scot Wilson (Angela) and Jay Wilson (Meade), and his three grandchildren, Crawford Wilson, Hale Wilson and Winslett Wilson.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a private memorial. In remembrance of Larry and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County (www.memphishumane.org)
