Larry Tiller's Obituary
In the peaceful early morning of February 24, 2021, Larry Tiller passed away at the age of 73. He is survived by his caring wife, Carol Tiller, their two children Melissa Rouse (FL) and Larry Tiller, Jr (TN), seven rambunctious grandchildren, and two sweet great-grandchildren.
Larry was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he was taught by his parents George and Bonnie Tiller how to fiercely love his family and being one of the youngest siblings, he learned about loyalty and the importance of family. He is survived by his sister Ramona Smith (AR).
Larry chose his soulmate in January of 1969 by marring Carol and they spent a beautiful, long life together raising their two children. They were constantly doting upon their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was the best “Papaw” to all of them. He took three voluntary tours in Vietnam as an airborne ranger, then later as Army Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1971. When he finished helping his country, Larry began creating what would be his legacy at his beloved Local #90 for the Heat and Frost Insulators. He loved working for the Union and his time there as a BA. He was brutally honest, fair, and hardworking. At this job, he met lifelong friends and changed the lives of many who came though.
He was an avid golfer, loved telling old stories, loved going fishing, and taking his grandchildren on walks. He will be remembered making fudge for the holidays and for grilling a mean steak. Always the first to crack a joke, Larry was always making those around him laugh and feel welcomed. He loved oldies music, watching the news, and tending to his home. He had a long, full life and will be missed tremendously.
