Larry A May's Obituary
Larry A. May of Memphis, Tn passed away quietly in his sleep on July 5th, 2024.
A memorial service for reflecting and celebrating Larry’s life will be conducted on July 15th at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Larry will be laid to final rest with his loving wife Jo May.
Larry was born in Jonesborough, TN on February 13, 1942 to John and Ruby (Murr) May. He served admirably in the Navy and was honorably discharged. Larry then dedicated his career to being an Electrical Engineer specializing on process controls from which he drew a true sense of accomplishment. Larry took much interest in politics and sports but his lifelong hobby and fascination was operating an amateur radio station for which he earned an expert class license under the call sign K4QZF. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, associates, and in the radio community.
Surviving Larry are children O.V. Fowler Jr. of Ridgley TN, Shana Hyman of Olive Branch MS, Reuben May of Lancaster SC, Daniel May of Water Valley MS, and Gregory May of Bruce MS. His grandchildren Michaela Friend, Mayson Hyman, Jade Flora, Shelle May, Ava May, Zoey May, Madison May, Gauge May, Cara May, Chassidy May, Dustin May. Great grandchildren Bethany Friend, Jett Taylor, Talon Flora, Koe Ruth, Myles Brown, Roper Watson.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Jo May, parents John and Ruby May, sister Lois Huffine, and son Stuart May.
