Annette, I just saw this and I am deeply saddened for your loss. I loved Larry and him always "picking" on me at TCAT. I wish I had known before now so I could see you. You are in my prayers. Larry, Go with God!

From the opening of his years at Shelby State/Southwest until my retirement in 2008, I visited the bookstore almost daily. Beyond going there to purchase of bags of trail mix and juice, I went because of Larry and his staff. Larry was always a delightful treat. ("Charge Mr. Christian twice the cost of that bag of nuts!") The banter, the shared stories and my jokingly complaining about the bookstore prices were part of our ritual, one that continued until our last encounter (2020). Always upbeat, smiling and inquiring, Larry Burton was a good heart.
Annette and Matt,
We were so sorry to learn about Larry’s passing while we were on vacation, but we’ve had you in our thoughts and prayers all week long! I am sorry that we missed the funeral because I know Larry had so many friends and family that loved him dearly! He was just that kind of man!! He and Rick helped us so much in a great time of need several years ago when Riley came out of the hospital and we haven’t forgotten that special act of kindness he extended without us even asking!! All our kids loved Larry too and are deeply saddened; he always kept up with what was going on in their adult lives! We love you both and pray you will be comforted by the Lord and all the wonderful years of memorable times you had together! We are praying for you both!
Lovingly,
Pam & Riley Gentry
To Annette and Matthew,
My deepest sympathies to you and your entire family. Larry was a good person with great jokes and never miss sending me a birthday wish in November. God Bless and may his spirit bring you comfort!

Annette and Matthew,
We are so very sorry for the loss of Larry. Our hearts ache for you. Larry was such a special and loving husband, father, son, uncle and friend. And I'll go further to say a very special uncle to my children. His smile will be deeply missed by everyone. I know he is in Heaven now, more than likely trying to pull the leg of Jesus with a few jokes! (This picture has his typical "jokester" look!) I think I can speak for my family that this is how we will remember him. Always smiling and always telling a joke.
We love you and will be praying for you and the entire family. May our precious and compassionate Lord wrap you in his loving arms and comfort you.
With our love,
Don and Kay Bona
Larry and I worked together at Shelby State. When I was new to the school, he made an effort to be helpful and kind to me. Through the years we worked together, I discovered time and again how he lived his Christianity everyday. I enjoyed his company and loved hearing about his family.
Annette I was so saddened to learn of Larry’s passing. He was a very special & kind man that I know you felt blessed to be married to. I always considered y’all’s love and marriage to be one that dreams were made of. You, Matthew and entire family will be in my heart & prayers. I know with time years filled with loving memories will comfort you. All my love & sympathy.
