Larry Bell's Obituary
Larry Groulx Bell Sr, 84, of Olive Branch, MS passed away March 31st, Easter Sunday, in Southaven, MS. Larry was a retired Union Asbestos Worker of Local 90 in Memphis, TN. Larry’s work enabled him to travel from Alaska to Jamaica and Washington DC to Las Vegas and everywhere in between. In his early years Larry was a graduate of Hume’s High School, family man, policeman, Veteran, Golden Glove Boxer, All Memphis Football Player, Inducted into the Memphis Park Commission Hall of Fame, a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and made the Cursillo in 1966. He was most remembered for being quarterback and captain of Elvis Presley’s touch football team. In later years Larry’s love for family and God remained strong along with his passion for golf, dancing and sports. Throughout his life Larry was a beloved husband, father, uncle, friend, brother and papa. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy “Dottie” Presley Bell in 1980, wife Doris Glankler Bell in 1998, brother Joe Bell 2006 and son Larry Jr. in 2012. He is survived by three children, Tammy Rathheim, Carol Ann Miller (Andrew) and Jeff Bell and sister-in-law Deola Bell. Papa Bell also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Tabatha Hilton (Jeff), Dottie Swoap (Justin), Joy Rathheim, Chloe and Camden Bell, Julie Forinash, Andrea Reed, Carolyn, Matthew and Mia Bell, Kieran, Caleb and Collin McGlothan; nine great grandchildren, Kristyn, Aliya, and Sofia Rathheim, Jack Swoap, Madelyn, Miller and Caleb Forinash, and Emerson and Leighton Reed; and other family members, Al Rathheim, Emily McDonald, Kim McGlothan, and Cathe Woodd.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 8455 Germantown Road, Olive Branch, MS followed by a “Celebration of Life” luncheon.
