Lanie Murphy's Obituary
Lanie Alexander Murphy, Jr., 88, passed away July 12, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lanie and Nettie Murphy; 2 brothers, William “Bud” Murphy and James (Jimmy) Murphy. Lanie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clara; 2 daughters, Diane (Jerry) Isaac, Donna (Wayne) Andrews; 4 grandsons, Jeremy (Kristin) Isaac, Jordan (Hayley) Isaac, Tyler and Brad Andrews; and 3 great-grandchildren. He retired, after 30 years, from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a regular at Audubon Golf course for many years. Lanie loved all kinds of puzzles and brain teasers. His family was amazed at his quick solution to the Rubik Cube and other difficult puzzle challenges. He loved to read, do daily Soduko and crosswords. He completed huge jigsaw puzzles that the family proudly display in their homes. He was our peace keeper and though he had a gruff exterior he loved his family deeply and had a heart of gold. The family lovingly joked that the character “Walter” was created after him. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm, Friday, July 14 followed by funeral services all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.The services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”The obituary will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
