Hooper and Duancie Deming Hooper. He grew up in Hornsby, Tennessee with his older

He worked on the family farm in Hardeman County Tennessee. He attended Southside

Korean war. After leaving the service Lamar became a butcher at Easy Way Store #9. He
married Martha Ann Sisk on December 15, 1952 and were inseparable for over 70 years.
Lamar then began his career at the US Postal Service. As a Postal Clerk for 52 years. He saw
the enormous change in the volume of mail and how it was processed. He witnessed the
introduction and adoption of processing the mail by hand to using high speed automation
machinery, retiring in 2009.
His hobbies were Gardening, animal watching and nourishing, family, and history. His hobby of
Gardening came from his childhood from the family growing their own food staples and much of
the time sweets were from what was in season from the land. He planted and nurtured these
throughout his property such as: pears, apples, blueberries, muscadines, figs, blackberrys, and
persimmons. He was outside with nature when not working, he enjoyed watching his sons, and
their children, participate in extracurricular activities such as band and sports. He enjoyed bird
watching especially when the Hummingbirds, Cardinals, Bluebirds were out. He tended a
beautiful koi fish pond and garden that was shaded underneath a large Japanese Maple that he
planted, which became a brilliant red in the fall. This was among countless flowering gardens,
shrubbery and trees throughout their property that his wife Martha found so much joy to watch
bloom and mature thru each season of the year. When there was no more sunlight out he
enjoyed watching history films, documentaries, University of Memphis or Tennessee games.
He is survived by his wife Martha Hooper, his baby sister Ethel O’Boyle, his sons along with
their wives, Alan and Marianne Hooper, Gary and Tracy Hooper. Along with his five grandkids:
