L Z Stafford's Obituary
LZ Stafford, 81, of Walls, MS went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. He was born to Rev. Robert and Minnie Stafford on December 9, 1933 in Somerville, TN. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Thompson Stafford. Children, Vicky (Larry) Waddey, Patsy (Sam) Campbell, Susan (Steve) Buck, Steve (Janie) Stafford, Faye (Jim) Jones, Patricia Reid, and Stephanie Thompson, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Lloyd Tyree Stafford of Bolivar, TN, 2 sisters, Shirley King of Selmer, TN and Mildred Roberts of Harrison, AR. and many nieces and nephews. He loved his two Shi-zuh’s, Sassy and Susie.He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Wanda Fletcher Stafford. He was also preceded by his brothers, Carthel, James, Leron, and sisters Aulta Covey, Clara Vaughan, Nova Lynn Steward, Betty Lou Stafford, and Nina Marie Stafford.LZ was a Memphis Fireman for over 30 years and was an Alderman in Walls, MS for 12 years. He also worked part time for Wingo Sign Company and recently with the Walls Election Commission.LZ loved to work in his yard, traveling, carpentry, puzzle word books, and going to hear local Gospel Music groups. He was a very active member, Deacon, and Stewart at Glenn’s Chapel Methodist Church in Lake Cormorant, MS.Visitation will be on Saturday, Dec 13th, 5:00 — 7:00 pm and the funeral will be Sunday, Dec 14th at 1:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home “Behind the Stone Wall” on Poplar Avenue.The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Glenn’s Chapel, 8235 Highway 301 North, Lake Cormorant MS, 38641.
