Celebrating the Life of L. J. Jones- September 26, 1944 – November 11, 2020
L. J. Jones was born on September 26, 1944 to Joe and Carrie Jones in Crawfordsville, Arkansas.
L.J. acknowledged his faith in the Lord early in life and served as a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church at Vincent Arkansas.
L. J. pursued various avenues of expressions: He attended Leroy McNeil High School until his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. He later furthered his career as a Los Angeles Police Officer where he retired after 33 years. He also earned an Associate Degree from Southwest College in Los Angeles California. After retirement he became a member of campus police at University of Southern California and achieved a second retirement. L. J. was very active and loved bike riding/racing competitions, running and body building.
L.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Carrie Jones, 2 sisters Ella Mae Jones, and Shirley Jones Shaw
L.J. leaves to cherish his love: Cynthia Scott an endeared lifetime companion, 2 sons, Darryl Joseph Jones (Benita) of Columbus, IN, Anthony Andre Jones (Donna) of Madison TN, 4 grandchildren, Tamara Nelson, Kayla Jones, Amber Jones and Skylar Jones; 6 great grandchildren, 1 sister Peggy Jones Felton (AL) of West Memphis AR, 1 nephew Demetrius A. Jones (Zshvetta) of Collierville TN, three nieces, Venus Davis and Unika Felton of West Memphis AR and Alicia Felton of North Hollywood CA, he also leaves his bonus family, daughters Monique Scott and Takoyah Penny of Los Angeles CA, Momma Gloria and 3 grandchildren, Lundyn, Mariyah, Thailyn, an amazing friend, Edgar Payne, very special cousins, Sheila Pegeeri , Johnny Jones, Jr, and a host of other relatives, and friends.
