Kristina Murphy's Obituary
Kristina Murphy passed away on March 6th in her hometown of Memphis, TN, after a battle with brain cancer. She was 52 years old.
Kristina was born to Charles and Jean Kelly on July 4th, 1969. The fact that she was born on The Fourth of July was fitting as she was a firecracker to all who knew her.
Kristina graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1998. After working as a nurse for several years, Kristina accomplished her dream in 2015 by receiving her Master of Science in Nursing. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic despite the unknown risks, Kristina bravely decided to use her skills and travel to the pandemic epicenter, New York City, and care for those affected. Kristina was committed to the health of her patients and touched countless lives in her years of practice. Helping others, especially those who were at their sickest and often neglected by society, was her calling in life. Even in the midst of her battle with cancer, Kristina could not wait to get better so she could care for her patients again.
Kristina was strong and courageous. She accomplished more in her short 52 years than most do in 100 years. To say her family and loved ones were proud is an understatement. We were blessed to have her; not because of what she did but because of who she was. To us she was simply “Kristy” – a mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend. Oh, how she was loved.
Kristina was many things to many people, but she was most proud of being a mother to her children Whitney and William whom she raised with her former spouse and friend, Waylon Murphy. Most importantly, Kristina was a devout follower of Jesus, and we find comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of her Savior.
Kristina will be greatly missed by her two children Whitney Murphy and William Murphy and their father, Waylon Murphy; her parents, Charles and Jean Kelly; her sister, Kimberly Kelly; her aunt (who was more like a sister), Debra (Stephen) Sutton, and many more beloved family members and friends.
Visitation will be held in the Riverside Chapel located at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 9 AM; followed by the memorial service at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
