Kristi Lynn Williams Kitchens' Obituary
Kristi Lynn Kitchens (Williams), 56, died March 15, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. Known to her family and friends as a loving mother, selfless wife, loyal daughter and dear friend, the world is a dimmer and less artful place without her.Born September 11, 1957 in Gulfport, MS as the youngest of 3 sisters, she graduated from the University of Mississippi. A child of the Mississippi gulf coast, the beach – and particularly the beaches of the gulf coast – remained her favorite place to spend time. When her toes were not in the sand, she enjoyed Ole Miss football games, raising her children, and time with family.Kristi impacted all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and supported her husband, Don, with diligence, love and enthusiasm. She mothered her two sons with watchfulness and warmth. She was the greater family’s rock in crisis – spending months leading the charge when her parent’s house was flooded by Katrina. She was at times known as “Sunshine” to her family, and for good reason. She loved tennis and the friends she made playing it. She had an instinctive sense of style, natural creativity and boundless energy that left its physical mark on her world and resulted in treasured paintings and hand-crafted gifts she often gave to her family.Kristi is survived by her husband of 33 years, Don, their two sons, Scott, 33, and Drew, 21, her parents, Odell and Nell Williams, her two sisters, Sylvia Dreyfus and Charlotte Thigpen, and countless friends and extended family members.A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Collierville, TN, with visitation from 9 – 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p,m. at Oxford Memorial Cemetery in Oxford, MS.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Bratton-Green at the Duncan Gray Center, 1530 Way Road, Canton, MS 39046 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”
