Lot’s of fun times and memories in the mid-80’s just around the corner from Memphis State….May God rest your soul, Captain Kreis!
Kreis was a great friend that I was lucky enough to meet when we moved to Memphis in 1979. We shared a lot of great times together attending music venues, Kentucky Derby, Myrtle Beach, on and on. He was a super kind fellow and would help anyone that would ask. We had lot’s of laughs and great conversation. He was a one of a kind, awesome, caring friend that I will sorely miss. Thanks Kreis for being such a great guy to everyone.

Brother Randall said it best. The Johnsons were great friends with the Butlers. Our mother and father were in Memphis for a weekend in the 1980s, which is where Debra and I made our home from 1972-2008. While I don’t recall the reason for their visit (maybe one of those rare Vol/Tiger football games), Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, with Kreis and Karen, hosted an afternoon of fellowship and food in their lovely home in Memphis. I think friends Sara and Ed Baird from Lebanon may have also been there. Always have great memories of Kreis, Karen and the Johnsons. They are the very definition of good people and my heart breaks for the family. I wish I could be there tomorrow, but I cannot.
You will be missed my friend ! Scot & Bambie
As the photos attest, Kreis towered over me (as most did) by at least a foot, maybe more; though he never made me or anyone feel small. We developed a great friendship as Oak Hill neighbors and as CHMA day students. I remember how great it was listening to music, obtaining Driver Permits, and just hanging out up in his room in Oak Hill. He will always be remembered as one of the nicest guys around; compassionate, loyal, and with such an infectious wit overshadowing his humble intellect. Many regrets on not being able to be together with Karen and friends to celebrate Kreis’s legacy, but giving thanks for it indeed! Always, my friend! -Randall Butler
My condolences to the family. I was at Castle Heights with Kreis who was much smarter than I ever pretended to be. Great dry wit. Fair winds and following seas my friend.
Lots of memories. He will be missed
