Knox and Diane used to come to the Highlands condos in Gatlinburg and that’s where I met them. I was the mayor of Gatlinburg and I gave him the keys to the city to give to his dad. Knox told me later that his dad put it on the wall by his Grammies. He was one cool dude. So sorry for your loss. Mike Werner Mayor of Gatlinburg
I will never forget the story of The Rolling Stones at the Liberty Bowl 4th of July 1975. They wanted Furry Lewis to open up for them and the go to guy to get the whole thing to work was Knox Phillips. He took a limousine and picked up Furry,swung by a liquor store and managed to get him onstage to play in front of 50,000 people for about 30 minutes. After Furry played Knox asked him if he wanted to stay and see the Stones perform and Furry said Hell no, take me home! The Stones paid Furry $1,000. That’s the kind of person Knox was, always willing to help out any way he could . He was a great friend and I will miss him very much. Terry Eakin
