Kenneth Wilemon's Obituary
Kenneth Ray “Bud” Wilemon died on June 7, 2016 in Memphis, TN due to complications following bladder cancer. Bud was 79. Mr. Wilemon was born on September 12, 1936 in Prentiss County Mississippi to his parents, Dewey and Maggie Wilemon. He was their sixth of eleven children. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He married Patricia Dorris Hiatt in 1964. In 1967, Mr. Wilemon went to work at Exxon at Perkins and Knight Arnold where he built a successful business and gained recognition as the best manager in the region. Around 1975, he purchased the Exxon at Poplar and Highland, where he served the neighborhood and made many friends. Mr. Wilemon was blessed to retire 25 years ago and enjoyed every minute with a home in Heber Springs on the Little Red River, where he loved to fish and rest. Bud had a true gift of hospitality, Bud and Pat helped found a dinner club which has been meeting for over 40 years. Mr. Wilemon was a Free Mason and Shriner. Bud was also a founding member of the workout breakfast club at the Germantown Center. He was a member and served as a deacon at Highland Church of Christ where he served and greeted everyone at the welcome center for over 25 years, which was a ministry that was near and dear to his heart. Mr. Wilemon is survived by his loving wife, Pat Wilemon. They were blessed with three daughters, Missy Wilemon, Laura Wilemon Jackson (Glen Jackson), and Susaan Wilemon VanEaton (Robert VanEaton). He loved his girls and their husbands, and his five grandchildren; Courtney VanEaton Theodos (Cameron Theodos), Dylan VanEaton, Trevor VanEaton, Emery VanEaton, and Kelsey Jackson. Mr. Wilemon’s visitation will be Wednesday, June 8 from 4-7 p.m. at Memorial Park at 5668 Poplar Ave. His funeral is scheduled for Thursday, June 9 at 1 p.m. at Highland Church of Christ, with the burial to follow at Memorial Park. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bud’s life. He will be missed, but we celebrate that he is now at home with his Savior.
