Kay Reed's Obituary
Kay Reed died peacefully on June 17, 2009. She was born in Seattle, Washington on August 1,1921, a daughter of Swedish parents, Alma Matilda Holmberg and August Godfrey Norman. Kay met Charles Everett Reed during World War II when he was serving in the United States Navy. They married in 1945 and moved to Tennessee where she lived for the past 64 years.Kay was an active communicant of Saint John’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid golfer and she and Charlie enjoyed traveling the world together for many years. He preceded her in death. She leaves two daughters and their husbands, Penny and Jim Keras and Kathy and Harry Phillips, six grandchildren and their spouses, Poppy and Sean Arnold, Ben and Lauren Keras, Jay and JJ Keras, Laurence and Henry Bragg, Johnson and Emily Phillips and Reed and Billy Wareing and 12 great grandchildren.The funeral will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 3245 Central Avenue with a private graveside service before. Following the service there will be a visitation in Parish Hall.The family requests donations be made to the Church Health Center, 1210 Peabody Avenue, 38104 or Youth Striving for Excellence, P.O. Box 80321, 38108 or the charity of your choice.
