Kay Tyer Hartung's Obituary
Kay Tyer Hartung went to be with the Lord March 8th, 2026. Born January 12th, 1938, in New Albany, MS. She was preceded by her husband, James D. Hartung, her parents, David & Julia Tyer, brother, David Tyer, grandson, Derek Hartung, daughter in law, Zoe Hartung, and son in law, Rick Rodell.
Mrs. Hartung graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1956. She later attended Midsouth Bible College in Memphis, University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Chattanooga State. She loved being a children's leader in bible study fellowship, tutoring young readers, and teaching a primary Sunday school class at her church.
She was also a Red Cross volunteer in Chattanooga and with the Veterans Administration. She enjoyed quilting, hiking & camping with family and friends. But most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a great babysitter.
She leaves behind her beloved three children. Daughter Karen Rodell, son Mike Hartung, and Deak & Melissa Hartung, four grandsons Brandon & Whitney Rodell, Aaron & Megan Hartung, Lance Hartung and Sean McEwen, two granddaughters, Gabby & Sophie Hartung, five great grandchildren, Alexa, Hailey, and Micah Rodell, and Prissy and JoJo Hartung, one sister, Ann & Lew Waddy.
The family will have a service in her hometown of Chattanooga at a later date.
