Kathryn Martin's Obituary
Kathryn Ann Martin died at home on Thursday, July 11, at 2:45 a.m. after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Mrs. Martin was 67.
She was born on August 7, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii in a naval hospital and has lived in Hawaii, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Kathryn was known for her work in the medical field as a nurse, risk manager, and patient safety coordinator, working for St. Jude, the VA, William F. Bowld, and Methodist South Hospital.
Mrs. Martin graduated from nursing school and then finished her education at Memphis State University.
Mrs. Martin also retired as an LT. Col in the US Army, serving as a nurse in a field hospital.
She was later invited to join the Army College of Command and General Staff College, where she taught captains and above to work as staff members for a general's staff, planning and executing the US Army's operations.
Kathryn also ran marathons and half marathons all around the country, and she has numerous medals for completing the races.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Kathrine Stover.
She leaves behind her husband, Paul K. Futrell, her sisters, Sandy Marbry and Linda Walker, and her son, Andrew Phillip Martin, Jr., his wife Kimberly, and their children, Kayla, Draven, Cheyenne, Jarod, and Piper.
Also left behind were her husband's children, Alisha and Andrea Futrell.
Services for Kathy will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
