Kathleen S. Bedwell's Obituary
Kathleen S. Bedwell, 89, passed away at home after a brief illness on October 29, 2021. She was born October 23, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Bedwell, Jr., her parents Carl and Edna Simmons, and a brother John C. Simmons. She leaves three children, James Ashton Bedwell III, Kathleen Burke Bedwell, and Carl John Bedwell (Barbra), as well as two grandsons, Ashton Ellis Bedwell, and Hunter James Bedwell. She also leaves a sister, Sr. Mary Jane Simmons HM., two brothers, Carl Simmons (Peg) and Jim Simmons (Linda), and extended family. She grew up in Ohio, and prior to meeting her husband was a stewardess for American Airlines. After marrying in Ohio, they settled in Memphis and raised their family. She was a devout member of St. Louis Catholic Church, and active in many organizations. She was a founding member of Birthright of Memphis. She loved gardening, reading, and playing bridge with friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4th at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at St. Louis Catholic Church. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, Birthright of Memphis, or Sacred Heart Southern Missions, Walls, MS.
