Katherine Ann Crosby's Obituary
Katherine Ann Crosby of Germantown, TN passed away on June 14, 2018. Katherine was born March 6, 1931 in West Point Ms to Chelsea and Mary Lorene Sorrels who preceded her in death along with 5 of her 6 siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years (Ret) Lt. Col. George Ross Crosby. Katherine met George in high school and followed him to Mississippi State University where she was a majorette in the university band. They were married January 10, 1950 of George’s senior year. He joined the Air Force after graduation and they lived in many cities throughout the United States during his twenty-two year career. They have three children; Mary Ann Seaman (Carryl), George R. Crosby, Jr. (Genene) and Linda DeBerry (Michael). She is survived by three grandchildren, Derek Crosby (Aubrey), Melissa Chando (Mark) and Matthew DeBerry (Ashley) and two great grandchildren, Eleanor and Emmett Chando. She is also survived by her youngest brother, James Sorrels (Kay).Katherine was an avid gardener where she and George won many local Yard of the Month awards along with several national ones. She was a Mississippi State Bulldog fan and held season tickets to football for many years. She especially loved the half time shows because of her years as a majorette. She was True Maroon. Katherine always had a love for music and she was very fond of country music and could be found listening to her CDs and singing along.Katherine was passionate about her children and a loving wife and mother. She was immensely proud of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and could be found bragging on them to her friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed by all of them.A committal service will be held at the West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Germantown on Wednesday, June 20th at 9:30 AM in the Rotunda.The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mississippi State University Foundation, Gift Administration at P.O.
