Kathe Germann's Obituary
KATHE ADELHEID GERMANN, 86, went to be with her Lord, February 4, 2010 after a long illness. She was born October 21, 1923 in Bremerhaven, Germany to the late Johann and Ida Olmes. She married her husband, William J. Germann, January 26, 1952 in Bremerhaven, Germany, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces in Europe. Bill always considered that Kathe was God’s greatest gift to him. She arrived in the United States, March 1952 to join her husband and became a U.S. citizen in 1955. After serving 25 years with the U.S. Navy, they retired in Memphis in July 1973. They became long time members of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, where she was a communicant until her death. Kathe was a long time member of the Ladies of Charity until her illness, and an Associate member of the Legion of Mary. She was noted for her baking skills and her Lemon Cake was always in demand at the Little Flower Church dinners and cake bake sales. Kathe was a simple-loving person and loved by all who knew her. She had a great heart, a great smile; she loved life, she loved people and loved her God. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Germann, by her grandson, Toney Germann, and by her brother, Bernard Olmes. She leaves her loving husband, William Germann; her daughter-in-law, Annie Germann; two granddaughters, Cathy Sesta and Mary Chapman; one great-grandson, David Sesta, Jr. and six great-granddaughters, Jessica and Catlin Sesta, Samantha, Sara and Elana Chapman and Andrea McArthur, all of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Lisa Olmes; one niece and one grand-nephew, all of Bremer-haven, Germany.
