Karen Marie Marr's Obituary
Karen Marie Marr, 58, passed away on Friday, March 6th, in Germantown, Tennessee. She will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet inner strength, and the unwavering compassion she offered to everyone around her.
Karen earned a master’s degree in business writing with a focus on chemical engineering, a unique combination that supported her successful career as a project manager at Barr Brands. Karen was a beloved and deeply respected part of Barr Brands for many years. Over her tenure, she held several roles in Operations and most recently served as Brand Operations Manager on the Marketing Team, where she connected Marketing and Operations on nearly every key product and packaging initiative. Karen embodied Barr Brands’ employee-owned values through personal accountability, continuous improvement, integrity, and collaboration. She held exceptionally high standards for herself and for those around her, and in doing so, inspired excellence in the people who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Creativity was important part of Karen’s life. She loved crafting projects, painting, collage, and making jewelry and bookmarks—each piece reflecting her imagination and eye for the playfulness in art. She traveled widely to feed her creative need attending workshops and courses and developed a close-knit group of friends who shared her passion for creativity. Her work brought warmth to her home and joy to those who received her creations.
A devout Catholic, Karen lived her faith with sincerity, humility, and gentleness. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis, Tennessee. After moving to Germantown to be closer to her father and sister, she became a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where she continued to nurture her spiritual life. Karen often reminded loved ones that if they ever felt anger or bitterness toward someone, it was a sign to pray for that person. Her wisdom encouraged compassion, forgiveness, and peace, reflecting the heart of her faith.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Marr. She is survived by her father, George Marr; her brother, Paul Marr, and his wife, Karen; and her sister, Maureen Marr. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, coworkers, and all who were blessed to know her.
As her loved ones reflect on her life, they find comfort in the words from 2 Timothy: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Karen’s memory lives in the love she shared, the beauty she created, and the gentle wisdom she offered so freely.
Her funeral will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Germantown on Friday, March 13th. There will be a viewing at 10 AM and a mass at 11 AM. A reception will follow.
