Karen A. Johns' Obituary
Karen Kimpel Johns, born October 11, 1936 in Memphis, TN, died November 29, 2013. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, December 1 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 2 at Bartlett United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Hill East Cemetery. She was beloved wife of 45 years to Terry Johns who passed away in 2002; mother of Stephan Johns (Lisa) of Jonesboro, AR; Mark Johns (Becky) of Magee, MS; and Scott Johns of Bartlett, TN; grandmother of Brittany Johns of Little Rock, AR; Amanda Johns and Blake Johns of Jonesboro, AR; and Jacob Johns of Magee, MS. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest B. Kimpel Sr. and Ernestine Waddell Kimpel, of Dermott, AR; her brother, Earnest B. Kimpel Jr of Memphis; and her sister, Alberta Kimpel Valentine of Memphis. Mrs. Johns was a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church in Bartlett, TN. She graduated St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, FL and attended Florida State University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was author of two novels.
